Launch of Visit Southampton / SO What?

Yesterday saw the official launch of Visit Southampton and SO What? - we are pleased to share the latest with you.

But first, thank you Southampton Bloggers

I would like to say a huge shout out to Southampton Bloggers for the invite to this event. This local blogging group really shows the heart of the city through what they do and we are so proud to be a part of it. If you are a business; they can help with your publicity. If you are a blogger; you can network with other like-minded people at popular events. If you love all things Southampton, they are the go-to place for all the latest. They are also fabulously friendly so make sure you follow them on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram.

(Sorry Alice that I didn't manage to catch you to say thanks in person. Congrats on the prize!)

Visit Southampton I suppose this is more of a relaunch, but what a fabulous and well needed one it is. Visit Southampton is the official Tourism website for Southampton. It is also the home of events for Soton locals that want to get the most out of this amazing city.

SO What?

This is Southampton's free magazine by GO! Southampton. This stylish magazine will give you a snapshot of the who, what, where, why and how of Southampton. The first edition has launched for this Spring/Summer and it includes information about upcoming events, music news, a Southampton Pride feature, fathers day shopping ideas and interviews from the lovely people of Southampton...plus a chance to win burritos! Keep an eye out around Southampton for your copy.

Launch Party

Held at the John Hansard Gallery, it was a lovely evening of networking. There must be a gravitational force between creatives, because I stumbled onto lots of fantastic people who shared a passion for business and creativity in the city. This passion for Southampton's culture was mirrored in speeches by the movers and shakers in this whole launch. We were also entertained by the amazing voice that is Tom Brzesicki and got to tuck into the delicious cupcakes from SO: Cake.

They had Twitter wall, showing #mysotonyoursoton tweets - the thought behind this hashtag is that residents of Southampton share what they love about their city. It included Twitter masterpieces like this:

There was a lovely emphasis throughout this event on the website and magazine being authentically Soton. They would love the locals of Southampton to have a big input into the site, making it a true reflection of the city we live in. Thanks again to everyone involved in the launch. From the wonderful catering to all the things behind the scenes, we thoroughly enjoyed the evening.
