Creative Christmas TV 2018

Christmas is coming and along with Santa comes Christmas TV.

Between Christmas parties and Christmas market shopping, we'll be enjoying evenings tucked up warm in front of the television set. We've been having a look at the schedules and picked out the best creative shows.

Kirstie's Handmade Christmas

WHEN: Next on tonight...3rd December 2018, 5pm on Channel 4

Kirstie kicked things off Christmas off on 29th November with pop-up cards, adorable wands, cocktails and upcycling napkins using old food as fabric dye.

Throughout the month she will, with the help of highly skilled craftspeople, show us how to make our Christmas truly merry and bright - Good ol' Kirstie! There will be gift making, tree decorating, Christmas stockings, decorations, advent calendars and many more festive makes.

Lego Masters - Christmas Special

WHEN:

Final: Tuesday 4th December 2018 at 8pm on Channel 4

Christmas Special: Tuesday 11th December 2018 at 8pm on Channel 4 We really have been enjoying this series of Lego Masters and seeing the amazing creative talents of the contestants this year. There have been heated discussions on the decisions, along with lots of laugh caused by their amazing guests.

MOST IMPORTANTLY...We are also super excited to reveal that Channel 4 have announced that there will be a Celebrity Lego Masters Christmas Special. I repeat, Celebrity Lego Masters Christmas Special...eek!

Former Lego Masters will be joined by brick-loving celebrities to compete for a Christmas trophy. The six star mini-brick builders are: comedians Rob Beckett and Joel Dommett, actors Joe Swash and Warwick Davies, Made in Chelsea star Spencer Matthews and artistic Alice Perrin from E4’s Tattoo Fixers.

Mary Berry's Christmas Party

WHEN: Rumoured to be 17th December 2018 on Channel 4

It's debatable if food shows should be seen on lists for 'creative TV shows'; however it is Mary Berry so she gets a pass onto the list. She is opening up her kitchen to celebrities to help them improve their festive cookery skills. I'll be keeping my eye on her home decor and food presentation for inspiration.

Zog by Julia Donaldson - BBC Christmas Animation

WHEN: To be confirmed

Animation = digital creativity at its best. Following the success of The Highway Rat’s Christmas premiere, BBC One and Magic Light Pictures has announced that an animated adaptation of Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler’s Zog is set for BBC One this coming Christmas.

Other shows we love

Keep an eye out for these brilliant Christmas specials

- The Crystal Maze Christmas Special, Channel 4

- Dr Who Christmas Special, BBC One

- Gadget Show Christmas Special, Chanel 5

- Strictly Come Dancing Christmas Special on Christmas Day, BBC One

Making It - NBC

Also, before we go we wanted to note a show called 'Making It'. It is an American reality show which feels like a craft version of Bake Off. The contestants do compete for money, but the show doesn't seem bothered about promoting that. It almost seems like if you apply just for the money then the show doesn't want you. However it is proud of its patches which contestants win through the challenges. Nick Offerman and Amy Poehler host the show, making it a funny programme to watch. It is a show which I wish would come to the UK, but in the meantime we recommend catching up online.

What are you looking forward to watching this Christmas? Let us know!
