Us Crafters Don't Half Find A Lot Of Ways To Keep Busy

Welcome to June. I hope this first week has treated you well.

So what creative things did you get up to in May? Decorate a room? Upcycle? Do a surprisingly impressive doodle while on hold to the bank? I hope it was good fun, regardless of how it looked.

May was a hectic month in this household. My partner, some close friends and I, all had birthdays to enjoy, so it was a month of celebrating our tooshes off. All that left little time for crafternoons. Reflecting back though it seems us crafters squeeze all sorts into our day to get our 'fix'.

My mission is to declutter my rooms and concentrate on focus colours. Slowly all my walls are going back to neutral colours, while I do wild splashes of colour in the accessories. I've known this interior design know how for a while, but practising what I preach has been the hard task. I know clearing the sides in my living room may give a sharper, more visual look, but yet I can't stop making stuff! I have a collection of crafty prototypes looking shabby around my home. When I finally perfect them, they are released into the world. It is no wonder my home is like a craft exhibition.

This simple declutter has triggered a full makeover of our bedroom into a more glamorous room. While I am all systems go on this, my partner is far more laid back. His aim is to persuade me to keep it as it is. You may not to be surprised to read that I've mentioned the word compromise a few times in these discussions. I have full intentions to win this compromise! :) I'm easing this makeover in. One day he will wake up in a completely different room, stunned by the transformation. My first surprise is targeting our bog standard chest of drawers. See below my quick snap showing the new knobs. The mix of styles work well, giving the room a subtle shine.

Here are some other accessories I've brought in to guard our bed when we're out.

On the right are my secret storage books. I made them to declutter the side. My favourite is the tissue holder as it goes through four books. I'm aware that's not the coolest thing I've ever said. I'm not sure what that says about the person I've become.

The left shows my current reading pile. Too many interesting books, too little time.
